As part of our continued growth in the defence and government infrastructure sector, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of projects across the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and the wider MOD estate.
This role would particularly suit individuals with a defence background - including veterans, reservists, or former civil servants - who understand the complexity of MOD stakeholders, governance, and delivery environments. However, applicants from the private sector with relevant transferable experience are also encouraged to apply.
The Role
You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project management team delivering defence infrastructure projects across the MOD estate. Projects may include built estate, technical infrastructure, utilities, and enabling works in both operational and non-operational environments.
Reporting to a senior member of the Project Management leadership team, you will work closely with DIO representatives, MOD stakeholders, internal technical specialists, and external consultants and contractors. The role requires the ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within formal governance and assurance frameworks.
Experience and Capability
You will have experience delivering projects to programme, cost, and quality, ideally within defence, public sector, or other regulated environments. Experience of working with organisations such as DIO, MOD, government departments, or prime contractors is beneficial, as is experience delivering infrastructure or engineering-led projects.
Typical Responsibilities
Plan and successfully execute projects
Understand and manage project scope and requirements
Plan and manage project deliverables
Provide project management advice
Manage information within a Common Data Environment
Manage procurement processes
Programme and schedule management
Risk, issue, and change management
Support capital budget management
Administer NEC4 contracts
Implement quality management processes
Support project costing and billing
Strong stakeholder management is critical in defence delivery. You will demonstrate the ability to build trusted relationships with military, civil service, and industry stakeholders, operate confidently within assurance-driven environments, and maintain a collaborative team ethos.
• Recognised qualification in Project Management or related discipline
• Membership or progression towards APM or RICS
• NEC3 or NEC4 accreditation advantageous
