Project Summary:
The Mozambique Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MozMEL) Activity is a five-year initiative to support the Mission in monitoring, evaluation, learning, training, and logistical support. The MozMEL Activity seeks to improve USAID Mozambique ability to design and manage evidence informed and local context-informed activities improved on a sustainable, long-term basis.

Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing specific communications products for the USAID MozMEL Activity. The primary focus of the assignment will be to produce high-quality and engaging success stories, infographics, and fact sheets that highlight the impact of the project. The Specialist will work closely with the project team and partners to gather information and develop content. This is a short-term position expected to work two days/week, for a period of performance of one year with the possibility of extension. This position can be performed remotely, and in person at the MozMEL Maputo office.
Responsibilities:
- Write compelling and informative success stories, infographics, and fact sheets that showcase project impact and progress.
- Provide technical leadership to MozMEL’s partners by building their communication capacity and skills and assisting with the development and implementation of effective communication products.
- Provide technical oversight to MozMEL’s partners, subcontractors, grantees, and consultants contributing to MozMEL’s communication products.
- Lead and contribute to writing or production of project materials including reports, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, infographics, and success stories related to project activities and accomplishments.
- Facilitate the production of customized products such as data visualizations and infographics, videos, and other communication products related to project activities
- Contribute to monitoring and reporting on achieved results and reached targets
- Manage the production process, including editing, formatting, and proofreading all communication materials.
- Work with the project team to ensure all communication materials are consistent with the project's branding and messaging.
- Coordinate with partners and stakeholders to gather feedback on communication materials and incorporate feedback as needed.
- Develop and maintain a database of success stories, infographics, and fact sheets to be used for future project communication efforts.
- Perform other communication-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or related field is required.
- Minimum five years of experience in communications required, preferably in the international development field.
- Experience in graphic design and the ability to create visually appealing infographics and fact sheets is required.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders and partners is preferred.
- Knowledge of USAID communication and branding guidelines is required.
- Knowledge of Mozambique context and reality is required.
- Strong reading, writing, and editing skills, with a focus on storytelling and impact is required.
- Strong project management skills required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously is required.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English is required.
