Project Summary:
The primary goal of the Kiribati Cross-Cutting Program Support (CCPS) Project is to provide support for the implementation of the Threshold Program Grant Agreement between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Government of Kiribati. The objective of this agreement is to facilitate decent and inclusive employment for the citizens of Kiribati through the implementation of three activities focusing on building the capacity of the Ministry of Employment and Human Resources (MEHR), supporting worker protection and family resilience, and supporting youth skills camps and scholarships. The CCPS contract, implemented by Tetra Tech (Management Systems International (MSI-TT), will support the implementation of the Facilitated Governance Reform (FGR) approach with the MEHR, provide monitoring and evaluation assistance, support travel logistics, and provide communication support. The contract, which was executed in June 2024, will run for three and a half years.

Position Summary:
The Communications Coordinator will manage and develop communication products to showcase the work of the three threshold program implementers. Responsibilities include maintaining the program's Facebook page and regularly posting updates on the three activities. The Coordinator will collaborate closely with MSI-TT, MCC, and the implementing partners to brainstorm ideas, gather necessary information, and create communication products. This role involves creating social media posts, graphics, one-pagers, and other content to inform the public and other stakeholders about progress of the program. The Coordinator will be based in Tarawa and work from home or an office in the MEHR.
Responsibilities:
- Build effective working relationships with all threshold program implementers and stakeholders, including MEHR and the Ministry of Education.
- Maintain a Facebook page to communicate with the public about the program and ongoing activities.
- Create social media posts, press releases, graphics, videos/pictures, and presentations to communicate with stakeholders and the public about threshold program progress.
- Develop content suitable for posting on the relevant Government of Kiribati social media pages such as those of the MEHR and the Ministry of Education.
- Ensure all communications are executed in a manager appropriate for the Kiribati culture and context.
- Manage the planned communications products across the three implementers.
- Monitor social media for mentions of the threshold program.
- Convene monthly meetings of stakeholders to discuss communications opportunities.
- Provide regular updates to MSI-TT and MCC and be available to respond to requests within 24 hours.
- Organize in person public events in Kiribati to educate the public about the program, as needed.
- Help coordinate other meetings of senior stakeholders and community, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
- Minimum one year of experience in a relevant field is required.
- Experience creating social media posts, press releases, presentations, graphics and/or videos required.
- Experience curating content with photos and video reels.
- Experience in international work preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook required.
- Familiarity with the cultural context and the ability to engage local and international stakeholders effectively.
- Ability to interact successfully and professionally with senior Kiribati officials required.
- Ability to be flexible, willing to adapt to new tasks even without prior experience.
- Ability to be proactive and follow through promptly on tasks and communications.
- Ability to work remotely and engage with MSI-TT and MCC based on Washington, D.C.
- Strong written and spoken skills in English and fluency in the Kiribati language required.
