The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Project Civil Engineer, PE to our Global Services Design Team based in our Marlborough, Massachusetts Office. This position can be hybrid or fully remote and can be in any United States location.

We specialize in facility and utility planning, design, and construction services throughout the project lifecycle. One of our key clients is the U.S. Department of Defense. Our projects range from full design and construction support for military base expansions and improvements to critical infrastructure such as airfield pavements, roadways, water and wastewater systems, and power and communications networks, as well as headquarters, operations, housing, warehouses, and other mission support facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:

  • Develops construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and design narratives
  • Prepares advanced site layouts, grading plans, drainage infrastructure calculations, and roadway layout and design
  • Prepares layout and design of water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  • Prepares designs in compliance with applicable codes
  • Prepares and contributes to Master Development Plans and comprehensive engineering studies
  • Reviews construction shop drawings to ensure adherence to specifications
  • Engages in collaborative problem-solving with diverse teams
  • Pursues continuous professional development and maintain a high level of technical expertise
  • Follow company and regulatory health and safety protocols at all times
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

We are seeking motivated individuals who are passionate about civil engineering and thrive in collaborative environments. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution, with a focus on civil design engineering coursework
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of engineering experience with a focus on site and infrastructure design and development
    Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Time Management: Proven ability to meet project deadlines while adhering to quality standards
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with Civil 3D, HydroCAD and Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, with the ability to create, edit, and manage documents and spreadsheets
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to participate in short-term international travel assignments as needed
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborates closely with multidisciplinary architecture and engineering teams throughout the design lifecycle
  • US Citizen/Background Check: Due to the clients we serve, this position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Residence Card. Must be able to pass background screening including criminal history, credit check etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with GIS software and US Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) basis of design is desired
  • Driver’s License: Ability to drive on an occasional basis for business purposes is preferred. To do this, you will need a valid driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle record check, and maintain a safe driving record.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand or Sit. Must be able to remain in a stationary position a minimum of 50% of the time
  • Use hands/fingers to handle or feel. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Office Environment. Majority of work is done in office or home office environment
    Occasional Travel. While traveling may have limited exposure to extreme heat/cold. Since travel is likely to be international in nature employees will need to sit for extended period of time on airplane.

Additional Information:

  • Employment Type. The position is full time regular, 40 hours per week. Additional paid overtime is available with manager approval
  • Work Schedule. Standard office hours are Monday thru Friday and range from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm including an unpaid thirty minute lunch break. Specific hours are worked out with your supervisor
  • Work Location. The work location is flexible within the United States
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to participate in short-term international travel assignments as needed
  • Hybrid or Remote. This position has the option to work from home five days per week in accordance with Tetra Tech's Remote Work Policy
  • Salary and Benefits. The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $105,000.
