Project Summary:
Tetra Tech is implementing the USAID Bangladesh Advancing Development and Growth through Energy (BADGE) activity. Through this flagship clean energy project, USAID is investing in Bangladesh’s transformation to a developed, decarbonized, and inclusive energy sector. BADGE seeks to increase the utilization of renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies, diversify Bangladesh’s energy mix with sustainable and secure resources, and promote policies that attract private sector investment.
Position Summary:
Tetra Tech is recruiting for an experienced Chief of Party to mobilize to Dhaka, Bangladesh, to provide leadership on all technical, contractual, financial, and operational aspects of BADGE. The position is a full-time, key personnel role and contingent upon USAID approval. This job is fixed term for the duration of the project, which is expected to run through June 2026. Regional travel within the country may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the client on the strategic vision and overall leadership of the project to achieve all targets and deliverables.
- Manage relationships with USAID representatives, USG agencies, host government agencies, donors, project counterparts and stakeholders, represent the project at meetings and respond to all types of project related requests and taskers.
- Oversee, guide and collaborate with result area leads to achieve defined project results, produce deliverables on schedule, and build successful partnerships stakeholders, counterparts and donors.
- Collaborate with the project team and home office staff on work-planning, activity design, scheduling and implementation, resourcing, reporting and budgeting.
- Integrate home office experts, subcontractors and independent consultants into implementation of field activities as required.
- Manage the preparation of the project’s progress reports, workplans, other contractual deliverables and all technical outputs and ensure quality control and on time submission.
- Supervise the deputy chief of party, operations director and crosscutting personnel working on monitoring and evaluation, communications, gender integration, and environmental compliance and guide 20+ full-time personnel to achieve the project’s objectives
- Oversee the execution of all activities to ensure adherence with USAID regulations and Tetra Tech policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in energy, management, law, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience providing management and leadership on high-profile, complex energy sector projects or bachelor’s degree with 15 years of related work experience.
- Diplomacy skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, government officials, private sector and civil society.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, strategic thinking, decision-making skills and the ability to motivate and collaborate with others to achieve team goals.
- Supervisory experience specifically with diverse staff and short-term subcontractors and consultants
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and presentation skills) with excellent oral and written communication for a variety of audiences.
Valued Qualifications:
- 12 years of work experience on electric utilities, energy markets, or modern energy systems
- Fluency in Bengali
Line Management Responsibility:
- Direct supervision of 3 to 5 employees.
