Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable  

  • Unique knowledge of and broad experience with unique and/or complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures in unique and/or complex facilities

  • In-depth understanding and ability to interpret various unique and/or complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics

  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work- planning activities

  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities to both technical and non-technical personnel

  • Ability to adapt procedures, tools and/or equipment to meet special needs

  • Ability to perform duties and tasks that are varied and complex

  • Ability to serve as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues

  • Ability to recommend approaches for new or improved processes

  • Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks

  • Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment

  • Familiarity with the LANL site and work environment preferred

 Other Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on unique and/or complex problems affecting work control and planning

  • Demonstrated exceptional skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required

  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently, and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems

  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Light Work):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate

 

Light Work Category:

Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. The employee exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

In this position the qualified candidate may support one of more of the following departments, Groundwater Monitoring, Surface Water Monitoring, Drilling, Storm Water Corrective Actions, and/or Remediation Services.
