Senior Project Manager – Midwest - USA
Requirements:
- Possess a B.S. or M.S. in a related field (i.e., Environmental Planning, Environmental studies, or a closely related discipline).
- Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, including direct management of renewable energy sector environmental permitting projects, account management experience.
- 10+ years’ experience with environmental and regulatory processes - federal, state, and local regulators by understanding NEPA and state siting and permitting processes such as Wisconsin Public Service Commission, Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) or similar state siting board.
- The Senior Project Manager should have existing client relationships in the renewable energy market and track record of winning new work.
- Working knowledge of federal and state regulations and permitting processes, ability to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
- Experience with site permitting, route permitting, and conditional use permitting for renewable energy projects, midstream pipelines, substations, and transmission lines.
- Relevant and reputable experience with renewable energy sector.
- Ability to travel approximately 10-20% for business reasons (project and business development).
- Must be able to manage time well, lead and mentor junior staff, and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.
- Must be highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment.
- Role will involve leading the preparation of local, state, and federal permit applications; resource analysis; corridor identification; route refinement; agency consultation; and public outreach.
- Working knowledge in geographic information system; environmental impact analysis related to renewable energy and land management projects; agency consultation for regulatory compliance and permitting; biological resources mitigation design and monitoring planning; and construction monitoring is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction, and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Must be able to translate regulatory language into "plain English" terms to clearly communicate requirements to non-regulatory personnel.
- The Senior Project Manager should have excellent communication skills as the position requires frequent and effective interaction with clients, regulatory agencies, and other team members of the public.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, technical inquisitiveness, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well in teams are essential.
Other Desirable Knowledge and Requirement:
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Business development and client service management skills with a proven track record of developing project opportunities and maintaining successful client relationships; strong existing client relationships and professional contacts are highly desirable.
