Senior Associate - Power

 Experience :

 

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the energy sector

• Familiarity with and understanding of several types of electricity markets such as RTOs and ISOs including competitive procurement of capacity and energy

• Knowledge of one or more power system modeling software (e.g. PS/SE, DIgSILENT, ETAP, UPLAN, etc.) a plus.

• Experience working in power sector reforms, regulations and deregulations, and policies

• Experience working on electric utility performance improvement and benchmarking methodologies for generation, transmission and distribution systems

• Knowledge of distributed energy and renewable resources is a plus

• Prior experience as a consultant or work for a donor agency/international organization is preferred.

• Experience working across multiple levels and with business groups.

• International experience and global perspective. Direct experience working in developing countries is preferred

 

Skills:

 

• Must speak, read and write in English

• Excellent writing and communication skills. Able to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively.

• A foreign language is a plus: French, Spanish or Russian

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong research capabilities, using a variety of primary and secondary sources.

• Strong organizational, teamwork and technical skills.

• Must be able to manage several tasks simultaneously and re-prioritize as necessary.

• Must work effectively under deadlines, both independently and as a team member.

• Must be able to use discretion with confidential business matters.

• Must be able to produce accurate and complete documents in a timely manner.

• Must have excellent listening skills and highly developed sense of responsibility and commitment to customer service.

• Must be able to travel (international field sites), as needed (at least 30% of the time).

 

Education:

 

• Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree is preferred.
