Procurement Specialist

This is technical and specialized work in the purchasing of oil & gas equipment, materials, and supplies. Work involves detailed duties in the requisitioning and purchase of materials, supplies and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Project Manager and requires the use of independent judgment and initiative in the preparation and review of requests for quotations, the receipt of bids or quotations, analyzing bids and preparing bid summaries, and the checking of invoices against purchase orders/bills of material.   The Procurement Specialist will work directly with the client to oversee purchasing for the client which includes obtaining bids, purchasing equipment, verifying delivery, and producing a job book with all purchasing details at the end of the project. 

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Receives, examines, and processes requisitions; prepares bid specifications and other necessary documents related to the purchase of supplies, materials, and equipment; locates source of supply, and prepares purchase requisitions or purchase orders on behalf of the client.
  • Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials, and equipment.
  • Interviews and corresponds with vendors; keeps informed of new products and market conditions and trends.
  • Communications with client regarding invoices and financials as requested
  • Maintains tracking reports on all project materials and equipment purchased.  Expedite and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Interacts with clients and attends regular client meetings.
  • Assists in the supervision and training of less experienced buying personnel and generally is responsible for the supervision of one procurement/admin assistant.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Education & Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university or a purchasing certification is preferred; or a minimum of five (5) years working in oil & gas or related fields desired.
  • Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of a variety of materials and equipment, the best sources, and appropriate prices for the procurement of such goods.
  • Knowledge of methods of tracking supplies and materials.
  • Knowledge of basic computer operation.
  • Knowledge of the methods of the keeping of procurement records.

Preferred:

  • Ability to supervise the work of others in the performance of routine purchasing duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain new working relationships with clients and vendors.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry a plus.

Minimum salary is $41,600.00 annually negotiable.
