Qualifications:

  • Associate degree is required.
  • Minimum three years’ progressively responsible experience in general management or administration work is required.
  • Ability to operate in a challenging expeditionary environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of office management operating procedures and regulations is critical for successful performance.   
  • Knowledge of US work culture.
  • Strong understanding of local conditions, customs, and procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of filing system, website management and office communication techniques.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize large numbers of varied tasks, to be flexible when dealing with urgent/non-standard situations, good follow-up and ability to organize once given general instructions.
  • Ability to use MS Office is required.
  • Must be able to use State Department software, especially myServices and ILMS.
  • Must be customer-service oriented and be able to solve problems independently. 
  • Driver license is required.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with all levels of individuals requesting services or assistance, from local contract workers to VIPs and Mission/team leadership.
  • After entry on duty, the following are required for successful performance at the full level of duties of this position: Knowledge of the Mission policies and guidance as well as Security Directives, Knowledge of host country customs and working practices as well as general structure of local administrative offices (Foreign Affairs Office, Diplomatic Service Bureau, Customs, etc.), Knowledge of local customs and immigrations rules/laws, and  In-depth knowledge of Department of State regulations pertaining to Management and full range of GSO activities, Foreign Affairs Manuals and Foreign Affairs Handbooks.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in conflict zones.
  • Level 4/4 in English is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the following security vetting based on nationality: 1) US Citizen personnel: MRPT determination issued by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS/SI/PSS) prior to contract performance 2) Third Country National (TCN) personnel: Vetting Approval by host country Regional Security Officer (RSO) in accordance with local standards and Overseas Vetting Guidelines (OVG) prior to contract performance.
