The Opportunity

  • Location: Papua New Guinea
  • Full-time, fixed-term appointment through to June 2027
  • Be part of a high‑performing team delivering Australia Awards Short Courses across PNG and Australia

 Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea’s development by strengthening education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity, while building enduring Australia–PNG relationships. The program delivers high‑quality education, fosters institution‑to‑institution partnerships, and develops the next generation of PNG leaders.

As the Short Courses Coordinator, you will support the end‑to‑end delivery of Australia Awards Short Courses across the full scholarship cycle, from promotion and selection through to mobilisation, delivery, scholar welfare and reporting. Working closely with scholars, service providers and internal teams, your work will directly contribute to positive development outcomes and strong people‑to‑people links between PNG and Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the promotion, selection and mobilisation of Australia Awards Short Courses across Papua New Guinea
  • Deliver information sessions, manage applicant enquiries, and undertake eligibility, compliance and selection coordination
  • Coordinate scholar mobilisation and all logistical and financial arrangements, including travel, accommodation and workshops
  • Monitor and support scholar academic progress, welfare and critical incidents in line with program policies
  • Maintain accurate records, data and reporting to support program and financial requirements
  • Collaborate with Communications and Partnerships to support public diplomacy and program visibility
  • Build effective stakeholder relationships and contribute to a positive, GEDSI‑informed program culture

Selection Criteria

  • A relevant undergraduate qualification (or equivalent experience) in administration, project management, education, communications or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating projects or programs, ideally within an international development or education context
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly develop understanding of, Australian and Papua New Guinean tertiary education sectors
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience contributing to reports and maintaining accurate records and data
  • High‑level proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross‑cultural environments
