The Opportunity

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) plays a vital role in supporting Papua New Guinea’s development by strengthening education, knowledge sharing, and institutional capacity, while helping to build enduring Australia–PNG relationships. Through high-quality education, meaningful partnerships between institutions, and leadership development, the program contributes to long-term impact and positive change across PNG.

This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Project Manager to play a key role in delivering the program’s innovative and emerging activities, as well as a range of program-wide initiatives. Reporting to the Program Director, you will be part of a purpose-driven team working in a dynamic and rewarding environment where your contribution will directly support important development outcomes.

You will have the opportunity to work across diverse stakeholders, manage a variety of interesting and meaningful activities, and contribute to the smooth delivery of a respected international program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is motivated by the chance to make a real difference.


Key responsibilities

  • Plan and manage activity timelines to ensure tasks are completed on schedule
  • Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to support effective delivery
  • Develop, monitor, and track activity budgets and expenditure
  • Organise events, meetings, travel, and logistics as required
  • Prepare briefing notes, reports, and maintain standard operating procedures
  • Support program-wide initiatives, promote team culture, and maintain a safe work environment

 
About You

  • Diploma in business administration, project management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience managing complex, time-bound projects and delivering quality outcomes
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative and judgement
  • Strong communication and cross-cultural relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders
  • Highly organised, with strong time management and competing priorities skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
