About the Program
Laos Australia Institute (LAI) has worked to support human resource development in Laos since 2014. Managed by Tetra Tech, it is the Australian Government's leading program for scholarships and training, as well as a source of technical advice and support to the public and private sectors. LAI’s work aims to overcome barriers and challenges faced by women, people with disability, and people from other equity groups – in support of the economic and social development priorities in Lao PDR. LAI implements a twin-track approach, mainstreaming GEDSI across all program activities while also delivering targeted activities to advance GEDSI.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and support delivery of Practical Inclusion Training modules for public sector partners, in collaboration with facilitation partners. This includes facilitation preparation, delivery of the three modules, and participant support between modules.
- Provide GEDSI advice and support for the National Human Resource Development Strategy (NHRDS) five-year implementation plan.
- Assess feasibility for potential support to people with disability.
- Provide GEDSI advice and support to LAI staff for activities across the LAI portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Learning, and Adaptability (MERLA) team on data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting, to ensure that GEDSI standards are incorporated.
- Provide accompaniment and support to staff and partners to build their GEDSI capabilities and knowledge.
About You
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent), preferably in international development or a GEDSI-related field.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of GEDSI, with experience in delivery of targeted activities as well as mainstreaming approaches. DFAT experience preferred.
- Experience working with government stakeholders, particularly in Laos or other Mekong region countries.
- Experience working in partnership with organisations for persons with disability or other civil society organisations highly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues, recommend solutions, and facilitate workshops.
