Job Overview:

The Tetra Tech Nigeria Platform delivers support aimed at addressing some of Nigeria’s most pressing development, economic and governance challenges. Working with both the Federal and Subnational governments, Tetra Tech provides technical advisory, grant and project delivery expertise.

  • Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRiNG): Supporting conflict prevention and community resilience across Northern Nigeria.
  • Nigeria Economic Stability & Transformation (NEST): Driving inclusive economic reform and growth.
  • United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNIAF): Delivering technical assistance to support power sector policy reform and facilitate climate-smart financing into infrastructure.
  • Nigeria Public Finance Facility (NPFF): Improving public financial management

All projects are funded and governed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), contributing to FCDO’s objectives of long-term stability, economic opportunity and effective public service delivery across Nigeria.

The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of NPFF, NEST, UKNIAF and SPRiNG. The role ensures accurate processing payments, maintenance of financial records, and compliance with Tetra Tech Finance Manual, donor regulations, and organisational procedures.

Main Duties:

Financial Operations

  • Support the management of financial operations in accordance with the Tetra Tech Finance Manual and donor regulations.
  • The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Manager, Project Manager, Project Team, and London Head Office to ensure that internal controls, record-keeping, and financial reporting are effectively and efficiently implemented.
  • Ensure timely remittance of WHT and payroll statutory deductions: PAYE, PENSIONS, NSITF and others to relevant Tax Authority.
  • Leading on obtaining payment approvals through Approval Max and ensuring payment posting on QuickBooks accounting software is accurate in terms of evidence-supported, taxes applied, description, budget codes, vendor details, etc.
  • Leading on acquittals processing, petty cash and card management.
  • On a monthly basis, perform a reconciliation of petty cash and card expenditure.
  • Support the finance manager during the month-end closure of QuickBooks and ensure postings on QuickBooks are accurate to report to the London head office.
  • Process all bank payments, uploads and reconciliations.
  • Ad-hoc financial management support is requested by the finance manager or a member of the London finance team.

Compliance & Records

  • Ensure that all financial records are filed properly and in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and timely responses to internal and external audit enquiries.

  • Collaboration across the platform, its processes, and team members.
  • Adherence to client and Tetra Tech financial and compliance processes and procedures.
  • Adherence to timelines for project implementation.
  • Client and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Risk management and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • A university degree (or equivalent) in accounting or financial management.
  • At least three years of accounting/finance work experience.
  • Strong accounting, finance and administration skills.
  • Experience supporting the preparation of financial reports.
  • Experience supporting management and reconciliation of multi-country and multi-currency finances.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, and demonstrable experience working with finance and non-finance employees.
  • Being able to prioritise and work with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

Desirable

  • Experience working on UK donor (FCDO) funded projects.
  • Full or part-qualified accountant.
  • Experience working with QuickBooks.
  • Experience working with Approval Max.
