The Program

Australia Awards PNG (AAPNG) supports Papua New Guinea to achieve its development goals through education, knowledge transfer, and institutional capacity building, through enduring relationships with Australia. This is achieved through institution-to-institution partnerships and inclusive collaborations that produces high quality education and strengthens accredited training institutions in PNG. AAPNG offers the next generation of leaders in Papua New Guinea opportunities to acquire professional and technical knowledge and skills relevant to the priorities of the Government of PNG. The program ensures opportunities are provided for women, people with disabilities and people from rural and remote locations.


The role

Step into a pivotal advisory position where you’ll inspire and empower university educators to embrace the future of learning. As the E-learning Specialist, you’ll design and facilitate dynamic, hands-on workshops for up to 25 academic staff, guiding them to create engaging digital content and effective online assessments. You’ll introduce innovative teaching strategies, harness the power of Open Educational Resources (OERs) and AI, and champion best practices in digital pedagogy. Your expertise will help staff confidently use learning management systems and digital platforms, ensuring students across Papua New Guinea benefit from accessible, inclusive, and high-quality online education. This is your opportunity to shape the next generation of teaching and learning in PNG’s higher education sector.


Key responsibilities

  • Design and deliver professional development workshops on eLearning content creation, online presentation, and digital assessment design
  • Share pedagogical and technical guidance to align course design with best practices in online education
  • Introduce and demonstrate effective use of OERs and online content search in teaching
  • Provide strategies and tools for accessible, engaging, and inclusive online learning experiences
  • Facilitate hands-on activities for participants to apply workshop concepts to their own courses
  • Incorporate current trends in eLearning, digital pedagogy, and online assessment, including AI
  • Support staff in using learning management systems and digital platforms
     

Selection criteria

  • Extensive experience in instructional design, online teaching, or educational technology in higher education
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging workshops or training sessions to adult learners
  • Strong knowledge of eLearning tools and platforms (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, H5P, Articulate)
  • Experience with Open Educational Resources (OERs) and capacity building
  • Ability to adapt content to a variety of disciplines and teaching contexts
  • Demonstrated experience working in PNG and cross-culturally with diverse stakeholders
