Position Summary:

The Communications Associate/Digital and Content Specialist will be a member of MSI’s Strategic Communications team and practice area, reporting to the Vice President of Public Affairs. MSI’s dynamic Strategic Communications team plays a cross-cutting role, managing communications activities and products across business development, operations, and projects. This role will provide a variety of multimedia support, including branding, writing, and laying out traditional marketing materials as well as more creative formats, and work closely with practice areas to support projects and their deliverables. This role will produce information products, such as social media posts, project write ups, and fact sheets, that raise awareness and understanding of our international development work and help audiences understand our impact. This role may be asked to support administrative tracking and organization, and business development activities for the practice area, including research and proposal writing. The preferred location for this role is in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop written content and oversee content development process, working with technical experts, for various products including website project profiles, informational one-pagers, and stories about development impact.
  • Collaborate with the strategic communications team and other MSI teams to generate multimedia content in various formats, including data visualization/infographics, photography, social media, and video.
  • Provide editorial support to finalize content.
  • Create and edit content around corporate events as needed, like the annual State of the Company.
  • Manage corporate social media handles/profiles, such as X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Work closely with team members and technical staff to develop engaging social media content.
  • Schedule and maintain social media calendar and posts.
  • Provide regular analytic reports to the team and identify trends through qualitative and quantitative findings on social media metrics.
  • Assist with updates to WordPress website content, including publishing members and posts, and back-end maintenance, like updating plugins and WPEngine maintenance.
  • Develop system to monitor and schedule regular programmatic content updates and liaise with technical teams to update content.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field required.
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience required. Minimum five years of experience preferred.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS), such as WordPress, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is preferred.
  • Experience with web and social media analytics and measurement tools is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural environments and build effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Ability to produce clear, compelling, and public-ready written content.
  • Strong website design, attention to detail, and organizational skills required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Fluency in English required. Second language skills preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement:

We are committed to taking a thoughtful, compliant, and equitable approach to employment compensation. We commit to providing a holistic comprehensive salary analysis, including reviews of individual skill sets and compensable factors related to qualifications, business needs, internal compensation data, and industry and labor market surveys. The anticipated pay range for this position is $64,000 to $70,000 USD.
