Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent international certification is required, with studies in relevant subject area(s), such as international development, governance, social cohesion, community resiliency, post-conflict/stabilization and economic alternatives or other relevant field is preferred.
- Ten (10) years of experience in management roles in USAID or other donor funded international projects ideally with demonstrated technical expertise in civil society strengthening, governance, peacebuilding, conflict transformation programming, youth development, gender transformation and civilian protection.
- Minimum three (3) years of supervisory management and leadership experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the successful implementation of international development activities focused on governance, accountability, public policy, municipal financial management, and/or service delivery.
- Demonstrated capability to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of high-level host country government officials and senior international partner representatives.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and inclusively with national, regional and local government counterparts and diverse civil society organizations.
- Intimate understanding of the local context, Congolese government institutions/ministries, relevant civil society actors, local government municipalities, and intended beneficiaries.
- Significant management experience and excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills with proven capacity to build and motivate multinational and multicultural teams to function effectively.
- Experience managing a complex program in Africa and/or fragile areas.
- Prior experience in eastern DRC.
- Strong interpersonal, supervision, and written/oral communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and French is required.
