The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Technical Editor to support editing of technical engineering and scientific reports, statements of qualifications (SOQs), proposals, and marketing publications. This role ensures grammatical accuracy, clarity, consistency in tone, and adherence to formatting standards across deliverables.

 

The Technical Editor coordinates documents from initial template development through final production and distribution, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, scientists, peer reviewers, and marketing staff.

 

This position is classified as part-time, with the potential to support up to a full-time schedule depending on workload and expertise. Work hours will be discussed during the interview process.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Edit technical engineering and scientific reports, proposals, and marketing materials for grammar, clarity, tone, and consistency
  • Ensure consistency in formatting, style, and organization across all deliverables
  • Coordinate document production from template development through final distribution
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and marketing/publications staff
  • Support formatting, printing coordination, and document production efforts as needed
  • Perform light administrative duties related to document and proposal workflows
  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently and meet established deadlines
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Marketing, Communications, or related field
    • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with coursework in communications will also be considered
  • 3–5 years of professional editing experience, preferably supporting technical, scientific, or engineering documentation
  • Strong writing and editing skills; technical writing experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Microsoft Word formatting
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to work from the office as needed to support printing efforts
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the environmental consulting industry
  • Experience editing proposals and SOQs
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

 

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time position with potential to expand to full-time depending on workload
  • Flexible schedule based on project needs

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to review detailed documents for prolonged durations

 

Work Environment:

  • Office-based or hybrid environment
  • Occasional in-office presence required to support document production and printing

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $30.00-$40.00 hourly

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
